Workrise Federal Government COVID Compliance Update

October 25, 2021
-
Austin, TX

Workrise is doing its part to ensure the safety of our employees and workers while protecting the health and wellbeing of the communities in which we operate.

Our emergency planning committee continues to actively monitor the developing situation around COVID-19 requirements per federal, state, and local government law. In particular:

  1. The Executive Order requiring federal contractors and subcontractors to be vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021
  2. A new emergency temporary standard (ETS) from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for companies with over 100 employees to require vaccination or weekly testing requirements (there is no additional guidance released as of yet)

Workrise will continue to monitor the situation, and once released, will follow all appropriate guidance and requirements as outlined by the law. We will provide additional information when it is available, following the final ETS rulemaking. Below is a brief FAQ to assist with immediate questions.

Workrise is committed to supporting our workers and continues to follow CDC recommendations as well as applicable federal, state and local COVID-19 requirements.

FAQ

When will this start?

There is not an official timeline but we are confident that there will be a window of time after any official rulemaking so employers can implement appropriate procedures and protocols.

How will this change my day-to-day work life?

If the ETS follows what President Biden outlined, workers will have the option to become fully vaccinated or be subjected to weekly COVID-19 testing. Workrise will send out additional procedures and protocols at a later date once the final guidance is released. This will likely affect a majority of skilled laborers and will not be specific to Workrise.

Will I be required to get vaccinated?

At this time, Workrise does not anticipate mandating that its workers get vaccinated unless required to do so by applicable federal, state, or municipal law. As we currently understand it, the guidance about the federal order and upcoming ETS suggests that the ETS will allow unvaccinated workers to get tested weekly as an alternative to vaccinations. And the ETS may also outline other exceptions to vaccination for religious or health reasons.  We will not know those details until the final ETS are issued by the federal government.  Although Workrise strongly encourages workers to be fully vaccinated, we understand that is your choice.
